Tariffs on Sex Toys? Romantic Adventures Urges Consumers to Buy Ahead of Price Hikes
Romantic Adventures, a leading adult novelty retailer based in Jackson, Mississippi, is urging consumers to do their holiday shopping a little earlier this year, as the U.S. government prepares to hike tariffs on Chinese-made goods.
“We are starting to see tariffs affect the business,” says company owner Tami Rose. “Prices on certain items are already increasing – so if consumers are thinking of investing in – or holiday gifting – a high-end toy, now is a really good time to get those good deals before the overseas shipping becomes more complicated and expensive.”
Rose adds that shoppers should feel the pinch by year’s end: “By Christmas, new pricing is going to be out for all the luxury items, so now is a good time to shop for small electronics across the board… even if you are shopping early to put away a nice Christmas gift, you’ll get a better deal if you shop before Halloween.”

“People probably don’t realize how many consumer goods come out of China… anything with small motors or something that uses batteries probably at least has parts made in China,” says Rose. “Even if Tariffs are later rolled back, manufacturers have to guestimate increases in the future – so it is unlikely higher pricing will roll back down as fast as the tariffs are dropped.
Bottom line? “There is no time like the present to have a good time!”
