The satirical geniuses at The Onion recently made a social commentary about Cosmo’s lack of useful information for women. I couldn’t agree more with them! When I was a teenager I was lured by the glossy magazine covers offering to teach me new and interesting ways to seduce the boy of my dreams and how to keep him. Now that I am 27 though and have seen these shiny covers promising the same old drab stuff for over 10 years, I’m no longer tempted to buy these so called ad filled bibles for teens and women. How is it that Cosmo has been able to print a brand spanking new story on 30 new ways to please a man, every single month for the past couple of decades yet has been able to explain to us exactly what happens in a women’s body when she ‘squirts’ ?!!! The Onion’s parody on this idiocy made me laugh so hard, especially when the male interviewer asks whether they will perhaps now move on to exploring the female body and all the ways that one could possibly please a female.
What is it about us that makes us so quick to please our men and leave our own pleasure on the back burner? Is this really what we are still like or is this just what Cosmo and other hyper feminine mags out there would have us be? Are we really so stuck in the dark ages in that area of our lives?
