If you’ve been following Erotic Scribes articles for any period of time, you’ll notice that some of our frequent topics are piracy, intellectual property abuse and the need for people to Pay For Their Porn. That’s all fine and good, but the thought occurred to me today that some readers simply might not know where to find good quality, legal porn to begin with. The obvious places to avoid are the tubes which host massive amounts of stolen content, and even legally uploaded clips are often so over-compressed, they look horrible.
With that in mind, let’s take a look at five sources of information in the hunt for quality legal porn…
Search Engines Porn Results
Google and Bing used to be places to find quality legal porn, but more and more over they years, they have taken to giving front page search engine results to non-porn sites like wikipedia and various mainstream magazines like Cosmo the first listings. Type in a search for, let’s say, “Blowjob” and the first several pages of results are from womens magazines with advice on how to give a blowjob, urbandictionary’s definition of what a blowjob is, and then multiple links to free tube sites internal listings of blowjob clips of dubious ownership and simply awful quality. It’s not until page 10 on Google that one spots a link to an actual blowjob film producers website! There are various alternative search engines, such as Boodigo.com, that are dedicated to providing quality search results, so give them a try.
Porn Review Sites
Even when you do find a search engine that gives you decent search results, the limitation there is that all you get is a little description of what the site is all about and you have to actually click out to ones that look interesting to see what’s under the hood. This is where review sites come in very handy. One that I personally use and enjoy is paidpornsites which offers extensive honest site reviews with both site pros and cons and transparent pricing information.
Using Social Media To Keep Track Of Your Porn Favorites
When you do find porn sites that ring your bell, go ahead and follow them on twitter and any other social media sites they provide updates to. This will then alert you to when they have a new movie release or some new feature that you may well be interested in. One suggestion though. It’s probably not a good idea to “Like” pornsites on Facebook unless you really want your mom or boss to know the kinky things you watch!
Adult and Porn Industry News Sites
Just like the music industry has Billboard Magazine, the adult entertainment industry has such sites as XBIZ.com, AVN.com and YNOT.com where producers of adult content issue press releases on their new movies, interviews with porn industry leaders and other interesting “peeks behind the porn curtain”. All three of these sites also host annual porn awards shows (you may have already seen the AVN Awards on Showtime) and the sites archive the winner listings which are a pretty solid bet for finding the sources of the best porn out there this year.
Blogs, Tumblr and Other Similar Porn Coverage Sites
Lastly, if you are reading this, you enjoy reading articles about the porn industry and seeing sample works put online by creative artists in the adult realm. If you are into “porn for women” check out Kinkly.com’s Sex Blogger Directory which lays out what they consider the best sex blogs written by women. For more wide-ranging sex news and commentary, one of the best is Violet Blue’s “TinyNibbles.com“. She covers a lot of ground on this very well established and perfectly written blog that also provides a lot of eye candy. It’s also updated as much as twice a day, so there’s always something new and interesting there. Looking for sex blog from a male perspective? Take a peek at ErosBlog, a vast collection of commentary on just about anything and everything dealing with sex and culture, well-written by Bacchus.
As for Tumblr: Tumblr is the mother lode of adult content which is lovingly uploaded by porn directors, performers and photographers/film-makers. Unfortunately, they do not allow internal Tumblr searches for any “porn words”, but the good news is Boodigo spiders their site and has it’s very own Tumblr search feature to find the good stuff there!
