HBO’s hit series, “Game Of Thrones” continues to push it to the edge this year with erotic scenes that are often SO hot, we have no idea how they get away with putting this on television! The adult store Lovegasm caused quite a stir when it tweeted this from its official account: “Who, among the viewers, doesn’t love sex anyway? We all do, don’t we? #got #gameofthrones”. Quite a few took exception to this remark because young children also watch the show, so they believe that it should be toned down a bit. So what’s the take of HBO regarding this matter?
In the HBO recent press release about “Game Of Thrones”, HBO says, “Game of Thrones’ earned 16 nominations, the second-most of any program, as this year’s Primetime Emmy Award nominees were announced. The show was nominated for Outstanding Drama Series for the third consecutive year. Peter Dinklage was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor, his third time receiving the nomination, having won in 2011. Emilia Clarke (Daenerys Targaryen) was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actress and Diana Rigg earned the nomination for Outstanding Guest Actress for her portrayal of Lady Olenna Tyrell. The show also received nominations in categories of Art Direction, Costumes, Cinematography, Special Visual Effects, Hairstyling, Makeup, Prosthetic Makeup, Sound Editing, and Sound Mixing, as well outstanding writing for the episode “The Rains of Castamere.” HBO.com received a nomination for Outstanding Interactive Program for the Season Three Enhanced Digital Experience.”
Let’s take a look!
Oliver Noble writes on Huffington Post: “While “Game of Thrones” offers up a multitude of feminist role models, it has often been criticized for its gratuitous sex scenes. Perhaps this is part of the reason Season 3 reduced the amount of sex and nudity, at least in frequency. Where the first and second seasons featured sex and/or nudity in 10 out of 10 and 8 out of 10 episodes, respectively, the third season got sexually explicit in only 5 out of 10. However, when it came to the duration of scenes with sex and nudity, the third season has both the first and second beat with a total of roughly 8 minutes and 30 seconds per scene. By comparison, the first season had 8 minutes and 10 seconds and the second season had 7 minutes and 40 seconds.”
