BOSTON – Filmmaker Andrew Blake is slated to lead the discussion on the Twitter-based chat show #SexTalkTuesday on April 18. An award-winning purveyor of erotica for over 30 years, Blake will discuss the age-old question: “When does erotica become art and art become erotica?”
With mainstream television, Hollywood, and even Broadway embracing more erotic direction and themes in both costume and storylines, this Tuesday’s topic is particularly relevant.
“The line between explicit erotica and erotic themes on ‘mainstream’ programming is becoming more and more blurred, with people making the tongue-in-cheek joke: ‘Is that porn, or is it premium cable?” said Sssh.com’s award-winning director and producer of #SexTalkTuesday, Angie Rowntree.
“Blake’s discussion will explore the ways in which the lines between genres are ever more blurred in today’s various production industries,” Rowntree added
Andrew Blake began his career photographing nudes and working in film. His interest in contemporary fashion and architecture give his films and photographs a visual edge that is rare among his peers. Known worldwide for his erotic films and vignettes, Blake has set himself apart by creating an abstract cinematic experience meant to stimulate the senses, physically and psychologically. His work as “director as dominant” often includes elements of bondage and public exhibitionism.
“I am very excited for the opportunity to be on SexTalkTuesday,” Blake ethused “I have been privileged to work with some of the most beautiful and sensual women in the adult business. In addition, I have had the opportunity to film in stunning locations around the world. All of these elements have helped bring my vision of erotica to life!”
And as erotica becomes less taboo and more accepted by the general public, Blake’s work remains unique in the adult entertainment space — while his vision becomes increasingly accessible to wider changing audiences.
“Viewers looking to find passionate and beautiful depictions of erotic encounters between beloved characters in mainstream film and television may be well inclined to took towards Andrew Blake — he has anticipated the dissolution of media boundaries for decades,” said Rowntree. “This week’s #SexTalkTuesday is a rare opportunity to chat with one of our industry’s great visionaries.”
