Most of us will have heard of bondage, at least we will have seen it in movies like ‘50 shades of grey’; though some will argue that the movie misses out on important aspects of the act itself. Nonetheless, it is a practice that some of us might feel curiosity towards but we don’t always have the courage to try everything we want. So for those of you who are just curious and want a bit of light reading on the subject, we will take a look at some of the more popular accessories and gadgets used in the various practices across the sexual discipline that is BDSM.

Uniforms
The first thing we notice when people engage in Bondage is that they often use some sort of outfit. It can be a leather outfit, but sometimes the roleplay extend to doctor’s or nurse’s outfits. You can check online for videos, or even take a look at BDSM dating sites and ask people what their favourite costume is. Some clothes will serve as elements for roleplay, while others will be used to enslave a person, restricting their movements and actions for the purposes of domination. So what should you pick? Whatever tickles your fancy really, just look around, talk to other people on sites like My BDSM Hookups and see what you like.
Restraints
People enjoy using ways to be controlled and dominated, and this often involves using some sort of restraints such as handcuffs or even ropes. There are many models of handcuffs, from the real police-issued ones to the kinkier ones which have fluffy padding to limit the pain and tightness. Just whatever you do make sure you don’t lose the key, or else the roleplay might just become for real! Beyond handcuffs, some people enjoy using ropes to attach each other, though it does have to be said that rope-play should be really carefully considered and practiced, as it can lead to a lot of potential dangers. Because this is partly what BDSM is about: risk and danger.
Gags
We are all familiar with that ball gag, popularised by movies like ‘Pulp Fiction’. Gags really represent the idea of enslaving someone, where they are only allowed to talk when their dominating partner allows them too. It really reinforces the slave / master relationship, as it quite clearly establishes who the dominating force is and who the slave is. Some gags will cover the mouth, whilst others can cover the whole face, depraving a person of some of their senses like vision or hearing.
Leashes and collars
Another very strong image we get from BDSM is the dominant person walking their slave with a leash and collar, like a dog or pet of sorts. Some people use actual animal accessories, but most people will buy leashes and collars that are made for humans, often made of leather and metal studs. Again in this situation, it is best to buy accessories that are made for humans, as they can be safer to use and easier to untie.
Whips and Fluffers
BDSM isn’t just about constraining someone, it is also about playing with different senses that can make some people uncomfortable. Some people enjoy giving or receiving pain with the help of a whip, whilst others will endure being tickled with feathers or dusters. Those two types of sensations might sound opposite, but they both involve discomfort and pushing boundaries, which BDSM is all about!
