I bet you’re asking yourself what the hell we’re talking about. Well, the answer is simple. It’s one word – “Intensity”, winner of the 2012 AVN best sex toy for women award. Impressed yet?
I was impressed and intrigued by the claims. Was this a mutant kegel exerciser. I had always hated doing those exercises and the thought of having something do it for me with an incredible orgasm at the end, honestly tickled my fancy. Needless to say, I was very excited, no pun intended, when my boss handed me an Intensity unit (made by Jopen) to take home and explore for a weekend. I gleefully took the bag from her hand and headed out the door.
I stared at the huge purple box on my coffee table and thought to myself that either the unit was going to be enormous or the reason the box was so big was due to the shear size of the instruction manual. I wondered if I was going to need a degree in rocket science to operate it. Thankfully, I had nothing to worry about, it was mostly presentation and packaging. Multi-lingual packing, I may add. Yup, unless you speak a rare dialect of Mandarin or are from another planet, Intensity has you covered.
I held my breath and opened the box. The presentation was nice and simple, I liked it. Intensity was nestled in the center with the instruction booklet and electro gel at either corner of the box.
This toy is unique. It’s basically a E.S. Unit (Electro Stim) along with a whole bunch of bells and whistles. Such as a Clitoral Stimulation device with five levels of vibration. Much like the old fashioned Rabbit that we all know and love. There is also a G Spot stimulator. One of the most unique aspects of the Intensity unit is that the shaft inflates to fit you. As they say, we are not all built the same, this feature is one of my personal favorites as it’s like a custom built sex toy just for me. The electrodes create “micro currents” that stimulate, tighten and tone your vaginal muscles (pelvic floor), hence improving the intensity and duration of your orgasms. This motion also helps work your kegel muscles. Except, instead of you doing the work, the unit does it for you.
The unit itself is very easy to use, even with all the different levels of stimulation and customization. One thing you want to be aware of, is not to turn it on outside of the vagina. Insert the unit and inflate until it feels comfortable and then turn it on..
When testing it, I did apply lube to the unit for easier insertion. As the toy is made from silicone, I used the a water based gel on the shaft and of course I used the Electro Gel on the silver electro pads. Which is what Intensity recommends. Only turn the unit on after it has been inserted and of course turn it off prior to removal. The shaft itself, inflates to about six inches with a simple “pump” of the handle. There is a release button to deflate. Once the unit is inserted just inflated it until you feel full. This is actually one of my favorite features, like many women, I like that feeling of fullness. There are two buttons which control the vibrations, and two others control the electro-stim. The electric pulses are a second long, with a half-second gap between them. This may not sound slow enough, but it was just right for me. I really like the intensity set around 4, but remember this is a very individual thing. So start slow and work your way up until you feel your muscles contract. There are 10 levels, so you can go as strong as you like. Bottom line, stop where you feel comfortable. I found the controls to be very intuitive, easy to use and reach, a nice change from some toys I’ve used. When finished “playing” turn off the unit, deflate it, and then remove it. If not done in this order you will have a “shocking experience”, trust me. Because of the accordion shape of the shaft, you really want to clean this unit well and of course do NOT submerse in water.
Some of our members have also said they don’t like Rabbit simulators, well Ladies you’re in luck, with this unit as you can easily hold it aside
The box is pretty solid, so it’s also a great way to store your toy when your done.
A couple of things in need of improvement:
– It’s a tiny bit loud!
– I also found it a bit bulky compared to other toys, mostly due to the inflation pump, batteries and controls integrated into the handle. With that said, I prefer it this way to having a separate pump like some products have.
– The Clitoral Stimulation device might not be positioned correctly for every women, but it can easily be moved to the side for precise insertion.
– The only other minor critique is that it is powered by 4 AAA batteries which do not come with the unit. A little disappointing considering the price tag of $250.00.
Summary:
All in all it’s very ergonomic and probably one of the best designed pleasure products I’ve ever reviewed. This device does the job of at least three different toys, all wrapped up in a sleek and tasteful design that I personally love. So, does it do the job it claims, you betcha it does. So don’t be intimidated by it, just enjoy it!
