Tasteful Porn
As people’s “tastes” are as diverse and unique as snowflakes, how does one define “Tasteful Porn?
Is it the softcore stuff one sees on late night cable TV (Skinamax)? Or harder-core fare that has nice lighting, some candles in the background and some sort of New Age music soundtrack?
We frankly can’t go out on a limb here to create a definition (or even find one with the Google Machine), but it might be helpful to take a look at what one Porn Actress had to say about the topic (well, sort of) in her “wish list to porn directors for the new year” that was posted on Erotic Scribes several months ago.
Beyond that, there simply isn’t much written of any help to define “What is Tasteful Porn” beyond statements made as comments on various blogs, like this one that appeard on Yahoo Answers:
Pornography has an element of prurient interest -that which is INTENDED to cause arousal. Art using nude models can arouse you, but it is not intended to do so. That’s about as much of an agreement all the committees can come to. Vatican or civil. Even the US Supreme Court had to give up trying to define it, and settled for saying they couldn’t define it, but they knew it when they saw it. The definition is pretty useless, but it’s as much of a guideline as you can get.
The human figure is so popular in art for two reasons. The first is that the figure is considered the closest to perfect design in compositions. The other is the obvious correlation to your question. We are just in love with ourselves, and never tire of seeing us.
So, if you have any working definition, please post a comment below. We’d LOVE to hear your thoughts about this!
